That’s all for this installment – keep your eyes peeled for the special guest post translated from the doggies, coming soon!
“Know where Charlize Theron eats seafood when she’s in Cape Town? Right here, at Panama Jacks,” our waitress whispered conspiratorially during our lipsmacking Saturday lunch. We could certainly see why. But of course, that’s not all we’ve done since my last update…
Thursday, 8 January 2015: Husband and parents lunch at Fat Cactus
Saturday, 10 January 2015: Family lunch at Panama Jacks, a chilly dip in Blouberg
Sunday, 11 January 2015: Breakfast at Aunt Sysy’s, cocktails at Cape to Cuba, swimming in the warm Muizenberg sea
That’s all, folks! I know, I know – no milkshake pics (though I did have a strawberry one at Panama Jacks), no photos of Bassie, and not a single shot of the sunset! Gasp! Will hopefully rectify the situation next time round… Click here to visit the Panama Jacks website.
You kids already know I love ribs. You just can’t do better than short pork ribs, with a sticky, tasty basting… see me eating ribs in Joburg with my bestie here, and at Lefty’s in CT here. And now, we have a strong contender set to snatch the title of ‘best ribs’. Drum roll please, it’s… Fat Cactus, Woodstock! We’d been to Fat Cactus in Mowbray a few times before (even when my Joburg bestie was down for a whirlwind visit, remember? I even went on about how amazing the chipotle sauce was. But golly goodness is having a whole rib basket to yourself a treat! That’s what I did on Saturday, and I’d say that was my weekend highlight. But of course, that’s not all we did… (and of course I didn’t get photos of everything, either) 😉
Saturday, 4 October 2014: Dip in the Blouberg sea, Fat Cactus lunch, exploring the yacht club
Sunday, 5 October 2014: Breakfast at Craft House Eatery, Woodbridge Island
Sadly that’s where I stopped taking photos as I went into ‘relax’ mode when we boogie boarded at Muizenberg (water was still as numbingly cold as it was on Saturday), and later lazed in the sun at Llandudno.
Ah, life. It has a way of getting ahead of itself, making you focus on certain things when others are more important, making you wait endless days for some things and bombarding you with a flood of others with seemingly little rhyme or reason.
Despite the typical ‘mid-year’ exhaustion setting in (anyone else notice August tends to be a particularly long, change-filled month? New offices, new workload, lots of birthdays, lots of financial admin, all over and above the usual?) we still managed a good few photo-worthy moments for your viewing pleasure since my last update. See below…
Monday, 11 August: Half-price pizzas at Col Cacchio, Big Bay
Tired as we were, we continued the extend the weekend feeling by eating out on a Monday to enjoy the wide range of Winter specials on offer.
Tuesday, 12 August: New offices and longggg train-bus commute home
Wednesday, 13 August: team dinner at Mondiall, V&A Waterfront
Of course new team starting at new office means team dinner. This is what we had…
Saturday, 16 August: Wimpy breakfast and Fat Cactus lunch with parents and bestie
Sunday, 17 August: Doggy beach walk, lupper at parents
Monday, 18 August: Spur, Bayside’s two-for one burger special
That’s all for now, folks! Lots more to update on, such as my half-birthday this past Wednesday and our seven-year wedding anniversary (gasp) this coming Monday. Plus other exciting news to share soon, so watch this space! 🙂
