How do you improve on what’s already wonderful as it’s a long weekend? With chilli poppers, of course. And if they’re wrapped in bacon and stuffed with pulled pork and cream cheese, all the better.
That’s one of my highlights from last (long) weekend – see more below…
Saturday, 25 April 2015: Best chilli poppers, supporting the Stormers
Sunday, 26 April 2015: Bakery breakfasts, afternoon movies and doggie Milo
Monday, 27 April 2015: Fishy breakfasts and Freedom Day drinks
That’s all for now, folks. I dithered about sharing today’s photos in this post too, but today is technically the ‘next weekend’ already and I should have published this post last night, as the eve of the next weekend, so I will love and leave you here… stay tuned for our next episode 🙂
I know, I know. Hanging head in shame as am a few days late with this blog update. The reason? We misplaced the connecty cable that’s the easiest way to transfer photos across, and it would have been too labour-intensive to email or Bluetooth the pics across as I cut down my selection from 118 options to around 35. 35 being a special number as Husband celebrated his 35th birthday this week! 🙂 And so, without further ado, I present to you my highlights of the past two weeks…
Saturday, 24 January 2015: Discovering what’s really worth ordering when breakfasting at Mugg & Bean
Sunday, 25 January 2015: Cheaper lunch options
Monday, 26 January 2015: Morning coffee at Naspers, evening dog walks during loadshedding
Thursday, 29 January 2015: Cocktails at Cubana to celebrate Husband’s 35th birthday
Saturday, 31 January 2015: Husband shows us how to jump into the icy Atlantic sea and we take a night bus trip to see the SunStar sculpture
Sunday, 1 February 2015: Braai-ing in the new month
Monday, 2 February 2015: doggies take over our bed
That’s all for now, folks – expect a few more birthday celebrations next weekend as this weekend was too packed to get to everything we wanted to…
Ah, weekend, how I love the smell of thee! T’was a tough but rewarding week all round, with lots to document after the weekend had packed its bags and left. We said goodbye to a dear work colleague who jets off to Italy this weekend, had aunt Jenny over for supper and met my former minion‘s pet hedgehog over popcorn and sparkling wine – Jana says it was actually MCC, even fancier! her husband won in a Twitter competition (the MCC, not the hedgehog. Twitter’s not THAT strange). The doggies were also just too cute this week (again) so you’ll see a few photos of them below.
Friday, 16 January: Bassie makes us feel guilty while we eat
Saturday, 17 January 2014: Bread & Butter breakfast, getting dunked by waves and watching movies in a dry pool
Sunday, 17 January 2015: Lazing about and lots of amazingly good value milkshakes
Monday, 19 January 2015: Sunny train trip home
Tuesday, 20 January 2015: Bertie settles in to watch some TV
Wednesday, 21 January 2015: Farewell coffee for Ilse at Locale, Mowbray
Thursday, 22 January 2015: Birthday ice cream and watermelon in the office
PS: Before you accuse Husband of wearing the same clothes all weekend, look again closely and you’ll see it was a rugby shirt on Saturday and a cricket shirt on Sunday – I wore pink to support the Pink Drive 🙂
Oh packing, how I’ve not missed thee. It’s just two years since last we met. There’s nothing quite like moving house to give your whole life a shake-up. Weekends and evenings are no longer yours to laze around in. Instead there are endless glass things to wrap in newspaper, boxes to seal, box tape to mangle by getting it stuck on itself and endless towels to dirty by dragging the heavy, sealed and probably over-filled boxes from room to room until you decide which room is the designated ‘storage room’, until the panicky final days when the whole HOUSE is a storage area, and you’ve forgotten what it’s like to traipse down the passage without tripping over something cardboardy and pointy cornered. Or maybe that’s just how I do it.
With less than three weeks to go to our big move, that’s what life’s been like lately. But of course this past week we did a little more than that, especially as I had an ‘Awesome Award’ to celebrate, from my first month at the amazing place I now work – no box-packing pics below, I promise…
Monday, 10 November 2014: Friendly hot drinks at Mugg & Bean, Paddocks
Friday, 7 November 2014: Delicious tastes and sights at #Mobile360, at the V&A Clocktower
Saturday, 8 November 2014: Milnerton dog show, dinner on top of the Ritz, Sea Point
Sunday, 9 November 2014: Tough packing decisions and packing celebration drinks
And with that we’re already at a quarter to Friday again, that much closer to the next big box-packing session. Joy 😉 (See? I may have mentioned packing and posted photos related to packing, but not a single photo of boxes did you see! Yay, me).
The good thing about leaving my weekly blog post for later in the week is that seeing all the photos again makes me yearn for weekend… which, by the time I press ‘publish’, is that much closer. And so, without further ado, I present photos of what I’ve been up to since my last update. Key among them? Milkshakes at the Protea Fire & Ice (though not the supersized ones we had at the Melrose Arch Fire & Ice a few years ago, click here for a reminder!)
Thursday, 23 October 2014: SAARF AMPS presentation at the Protea Fire & Ice
Saturday, 25 October: Cubana breakfast, winning at the casino, Fire & Ice milkshakes, Mochachos selfies
Sunday, 26 October 2014: Kauai breakfast, sushi, cake and packing
Doesn’t scrolling through all that make you long for the weekend? Good news, it’s just around the corner! 🙂 See, told you I was onto something by leaving my blog posts so late in the week. You can thank me later.
