A sunny 21st celebration

We’re lucky to have my parents just ‘around the corner’ here in Cape Town (well, 5km away), but we often miss the folks we left behind in Joburg… so much so that we forget we have an untapped side of the family to see here too, with all of Clifton’s extended rellies scattered across the Western Cape.

Last Saturday provided the perfect opportunity to get in touch with them again as it was his second cousin Frances’ 21st birthday bash. No typical ‘fall down drunk dress up party’ for her either (insert me asking Clifton “Did you brush your hair because it’s a dress-up party?” joke here) – instead, we spent a delightful afternoon in the sunshine at the Kirstenbosch Tea Garden. See the pics below if you’re scratching your head with confusion. It was the perfect way to celebrate.

That would be us - we sat in the direct sun for a while until it became too hot to do so

Just a small sample of the truly amazing food - and you should have seen the desserts! (Sadly not photographed)
